About

Hello, I’m Angela…I’m a counsellor and psychotherapist in Moray who works with neurodivergent people, with ADHD at the heart of my practice. At the core of my work is the belief that every person deserves to feel at home in who they are.

The Personal

I was born and raised on the Moray coast, where I’ve spent most of my life. Outside of work, you’ll often
find me in the garden, curled up with a book and a coffee, knitting, or out on the hills with my dogs. Staying still has never been my thing.

I came to understand my own neurodivergence later in life. Even after years of supporting people with ADHD, it wasn’t until a comment from a family member and a university lecture that things truly clicked.

I know what it’s like to have a brain that works differently — the emotional highs and lows, the sense of not quite fitting in, and the shock of realising everything you thought you knew about yourself might need rewriting. It can bring confusion, grief, and a steep process of self-discovery. Learning to be kind to myself has been key in finding steadier ground.

Today, I advocate for neurodiversity and support neurodivergent people — including those who are Autistic, ADHD, or living with other forms of neurodivergence — to feel more at home in themselves.

The Professional

I’ve always been a lifelong learner, but it was my curiosity about people and the way we move through the world that led me to study Social Sciences. That degree gave me a strong foundation in understanding human behaviour and society. I then went on to complete a Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling & Psychotherapy, graduating with distinction — a path that enabled me to offer the kind of support I wish I’d had in my own younger years.

I’m committed to ongoing learning and regularly build on my skills through research, supervision, and specialist training. Over the years I’ve completed a wide range of specialist courses; here’s a selection most relevant to my practice:

  • Mental Health First Aid for Adults
  • Coaching for Counsellors
  • ADHD Awareness and Psychoeducation
  • Bereavement and Loss (CRUSE Bereavement Support)
  • Changing the ADHD Brain: Moving Beyond Medication
  • Using Internal Family Systems to Heal Trauma and Addictive Processes
  • Strategies to Help ADHD Clients Stay On-Time & On-Task
  • Working with Suicide: Essential Intervention and Prevention Strategies
  • Understanding ADHD: Current Research and Practice
  • ADHD, Neurodiversity, and Clinical Practice
  • ADHD Certification Course
  • Advanced Strategies to Customise Treatment for Every Client

From 2018 to 2024, I volunteered as a counsellor with Quarriers Carer Support. Before that, I was a volunteer counsellor with CRUSE. I am a registered Practitioner Member of COSCA (Counselling & Psychotherapy in Scotland), accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. I also hold a current PVG from Disclosure Scotland and full professional insurance.
